The Hospitality Hall of Fame is made up of people who have made significant contributions, demonstrated passion and dedication, and are admired and respected by their peers – and this year’s inductee fits those criteria to a tee.

It would be true to say his eventual career was set at an early stage, at school in fact.

But before hospitality came 13 years in accounting and finance, before the purchase of the renowned Clarendon Hotel in Wellington made him realise the opportunities that existed in the liquor industry.

That was in 1977, and what followed was a 43-year career during which time he purchased,

developed, and sold more than 26 properties in Wellington covering all facets of the industry, including the first new-build by an independent operator in the city for more than 20 years.

He has also served our industry with distinction, as Wellington association branch President and Treasurer, and as a Board member of the national association for 10 years.

He was also made a Life Member of the Wellington branch.
