Richard Tait

With a career spanning over four decades in the hospitality industry, my journey began in 1983 with the Hotel Association Chef Training apprentice program in New Zealand. This foundational experience laid the groundwork for a rich and diverse career that has taken me across continents and through various sectors of hospitality.

After gaining invaluable international experience managing restaurants in London for 15 years, I returned to New Zealand in 2000. Since then, my focus has primarily been on stadium operations at Jade, Christchurch then Westpac, Wellington. I successfully had significant role during the Rugby World Cup where I oversaw catering operations across multiple venues; Whangārei, North Harbour, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Nelson, and Dunedin.

A pivotal chapter of my career unfolded in Rarotonga, where I initially taught at the Hospitality School and later contributed to operations at Pacific Resort. This experience broadened my perspective on hospitality management within different cultural contexts.

For the past nine years, I have been integral to Prime Property, a dynamic company involved in diverse sectors including hotels, residential developments, shopping centres, and commercial properties. My role has encompassed extensive responsibilities in Health & Safety management, employee relations, and operational oversight, including the successful launch of several F&B outlets.

I am eager to leverage my extensive background and leadership skills in a board position with Hospitality NZ. My goal is to contribute actively to shaping industry standards, fostering innovation, and advocating for the continued growth and prosperity of New Zealand's vibrant hospitality sector.

In summary, I offer a wealth of experience, a steadfast dedication to hospitality, and a proven track record of leadership and achievement. I am excited about the opportunity to bring my insights and energy to the board of Hospitality NZ, contributing to its strategic vision and advancing the interests of its members and stakeholders.
