Steve Armitage, our Chief Executive, has made the decision to step down from his role and will be leaving Hospitality New Zealand in September 2025.
Since joining us in 2023, Steve has made a significant impact on our organisation and the wider hospitality sector. Under his leadership, we have:
- Developed a member-led, five-year organisational strategy that celebrates hospitality’s contribution to Aotearoa.
- Continued to strengthen our advocacy efforts at both local and national levels and deepened engagement with members across the motu.
- Elevated the profile of Hospitality NZ as a trusted voice and partner in shaping the future of our industry.
- Delivered key initiatives to support workforce development, sustainability, and industry resilience. These include introducing the Ethnic Advisory Council, executing the inaugural Pacific Hospitality Forum and co-hosting the Hospitality Summit at Parliament in December 2024.
We are incredibly grateful for Steve’s dedication, vision, and the collaborative spirit he has brought to the role. His contributions have positioned us strongly for the future.
On starting his journey with Hospitality NZ, the Board believed that Steve’s proven track record, deep understanding of the industry, and alignment with our strategic goals made him the ideal candidate to lead the organisation. His achievements and strategic planning over the last two years reflect the positive influence Steve has had on shaping the future for Hospitality NZ.
The Board is incredibly grateful for Steve’s contribution and dedication. His impact has been significant, and he will be missed by the Hospitality NZ team and wider network alike.
The recruitment process for the next Chief Executive is already underway. If required, interim arrangements will be put in place to ensure continuity and maintain momentum during the handover period. Hospitality NZ remains in good hands, and the Board is confident about the future as the team continues to build on the strong foundations now in place.
