Queenstown’s hospitality leaders are working together to make sure the town’s famous nightlife continues to shine, safely, responsibly, and with the spirit that makes Queenstown unique.
This week, 14 Queenstown operators representing 35 venues, alongside Hospitality New Zealand, QLDC Alcohol Licensing, and Health New Zealand are partnering to form the Queenstown Alcohol Accord, focused on safety, collaboration, and keeping Queenstown a great place to work, live, and visit.
Across New Zealand, alcohol accords bring together hospitality operators and the regulatory triagencies - Police, licensing inspectors, and health officials, alongside other key stakeholders - to work collectively on strategies that minimise alcohol-related harm, and support both community wellbeing and a thriving hospitality sector. By maintaining open and consistent communication, alcohol accords help prevent and resolve issues before they escalate.
Blair Impey, CEO of Republic Hospitality, has been appointed as Chair of the Queenstown Alcohol Accord.
“We all face similar challenges in hospitality, so instead of working through them alone, the Accord provides a great platform to share ideas, support each other, and find solutions together,” says Mr Impey.
“Queenstown’s hospitality community is incredibly passionate, and by working in partnership with the regulatory agencies, we can create a safer, stronger, and more vibrant environment for everyone.”
The Accord reflects a shared commitment to keeping Queenstown’s hospitality scene worldclass, not just for operators, but for locals, visitors, and the wider community who enjoy everything the town has to offer.
